Meet The Builder

Condominiums at Cathedral Park LLC is a member of the GLC Homes Inc. family of companies. GLC Homes Inc. is owned by Gerald “Gerry” Engler.

Gerry started his career in real estate sales working with many of the areas builders. It was a natural transition for him to go from representing builders to becoming a builder himself in 1976. Gerry has built hundreds of homes in the Portland Metropolitan area, Southwest Washington and Northern Washington.

For many years his primary focus was delivering single-family homes in suburban subdivisions.

In the mid-90s he discovered that as the land supply became more scarce the key to providing affordable housing was innovative design using existing lots. Since that time affordable housing and efficient use of the land has become the goal of his companies.

Gerry and his wife have loved boating and cruising for years. In 2003 while looking for places to be near Puget Sound they discovered Sequim, Washington. It wasn't long until he started to build homes in Sequim and within the next couple years built 30 in Sequim and Port Angeles. During that time he also developed a 90 lot neighborhood in Sequim called Fair Weather. Sequim was primarily an area that featured single family detached homes on individual lots. However, the need to conserve land even in this rural area was becoming apparent so Fair Weather was built using many of the innovative techniques he used in the Portland area. These increased the density but still gave the buyer the feeling of owning a single family home.

In the meantime Gerry has stayed active in the Portland area with several new condominium and row house neighborhoods.

This is a family business and while Gerry spends most of his time in the Sequim area his daughter Torri now manages the Portland office. Torri is been active in the building business since the late 1990s and prior to building row houses and condominiums with her father she worked for a large natural foods store in the construction department building and remodeling stores, getting them ready for opening.

The father and daughter team also employ experienced on-site managers and an experienced staff of construction personnel. The personal attention paid to each project makes certain the homes are delivered with the quality you deserve.

In the last 30 years the building industry has changed greatly. Homebuyers are more interested in quality materials, innovative design and environmentally friendly homes.

We are constantly looking for new and longer-lasting materials to improve the quality of our homes. We voluntarily subscribe to the Earth Advantage program which promotes energy-efficient construction using recycled products for our Oregon and Southwest Washington homes. The Earth Advantage program is not available in Northern Washington however we strive to incorporate the same products and principles in our Northern Washington homes.

We are a member of the Home Builders Association of Portland and the National Homebuilders Association.

All of the homes we build are enrolled in Residential Warranty Corporation's 10-year warranty program which offers our homebuyers additional security and peace of mind that your home will be safe and sound for years to come.
